I started out just like many of you – full of passion, but slightly panicked when my antenatal classes were half-empty and my phone wasn’t ringing with lactation clients. I remember Googling things like “how to get clients without being salesy” at 11pm with a baby (well a toddler!) on my chest.

I trained as a childbirth educator and lactation consultant after years working in social care, and while I had the skills to support families, I hadn’t a clue how to run a business. So I did what most of us do – I signed up to all the trainings, followed the “gurus”, joined the memberships, and devoured every podcast going.

Some of it helped. A lot of it didn’t. Because most of it came from people who had no idea what it’s like to build an ethical, values-led business in the world of birth and postpartum.

So I stopped trying to fit into someone else’s formula – and I built my own.

Now I run a fully booked private practice, mentor incredible birthworkers around the world, and firmly believe that we don’t need to compete to succeed. We just need better support, better strategy, and a business that actually fits into our lives – not the other way around.
